NOTICES:
ATTENDANCE: 327 people came to Sunday Mass at OLHOCSA last weekend. The offertory collections amounted to £698.18. The recent second collection for Home Mission work came to £88.80, and the one for our own Altar Society, £51.52. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
PLEASE PRAY FOR: Alan Lloyd, Alice, Andy Mark, Anne Harrison, Barrie Pape, Bob Barton, Brian Wright, Brian Tudball, Charlie Jessup-Hastings, Christopher Browne, Ciaran Casey, Colette Bannerman, Conor Dunne, Cynthia Misquita, David Gentry, Fr Ed Hartley, Eliza Jordan, Ernestina Valladares, Florence Clutton, Frank D’Agostini, Hannah Lamb, Italia Grech, Janet & Paul Rynehart, Jean Malloy, M. Jean Munier, John Grace, John Lodge, John McGarry, Juliet, Katie O’Rorke, June Rolph, Keith, Kitty Hart, Len Griffiths, Lucia D’Agostini, Margaret Ellison, Margaret McHale, Mark Pickett, Marlene Gallop, Mary Robinson, Moira Dawson, Moira Goss, Nikki Gallazzi, Patricia Barry, Paul Barton, Pauline Kearney, Rachel, Rosalind Chittenden and Rupert Bristow.
THE 100 CLUB: The next draw will be on October 23rd. Application forms are at the back of church if you’d like to join as a new member and be included in the October draw. It costs £12.00 per number per year.
SPONSORED BIKE RIDE: please pay up your sponsorship money, if you haven’t already done! Trish (& Tinto) walked to nine churches and Fr Stephen walked to twelve.
DON’T FENCE ME IN! It used to be okay (on the whole) to block Fr Stephen’s car - the Red Nissan Note - into his space in the car park because (on the whole) he wasn’t going anywhere else Mass was on. But now that he has St Joseph’s to look after, he often – usually! – has to get out during the 9.00am Mass and get back in during the 11.00am Mass. So please, don’t park behind his car & leave room for him to get in and out!
BISHOP PAUL MASON will visit St Joseph’s for the 10.00am Mass, next Sunday, October 9th, and he will meet people in the hall afterwards (this is a parish event, not exclusively for St Joseph’s). At 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 18th, the bishop will induct Fr Stephen Bould as priest in charge of the newly amalgamated parish: this is most decidedly for the whole parish. There will be refreshments in the Hall afterwards.
THE OLHOCSA CHRISTMAS FAYRE is on Saturday, Nov. 19th, Put it in your diaries, tell your friends, and be prepared! Grand Draw tickets already available! (At the back of church.) There is also the Christmas box for donations of good quality clothing & jewellery, handicrafts, bottles, gifts. (No Jumble, Bric-a-brac or electrical items, thank you). There will be a Stall- holders meeting open to all parishioners who can offer their help, on Monday October 10th at 10.30am, in the Parish Hall. A list of jobs/stalls will be at the back of the church for people to sign up to.
DEANERY MISSION 2017 Sion Community speakers will tell us about this at masses on October 8th/9th, and there’ll be an open meeting at Dover at 3.30pm on the Sunday afternoon to learn more.
MORE SINGERS NEEDED! – Practices for this year’s Advent Carol Service begin THIS THURSDAY! The Advent Carol Service takes place on Advent Sunday (November 27th) at 6.00pm at Guildhall St. This is a JOINT WHOLE-PARISH EVENT – people from both churches are invited to join the Singing Group for this. You don’t have to be a brilliant singer - we give ourselves plenty of time to learn our pieces! Singing Practise in OLHOCSA Parish Hall on Thursdays at 6.00pm.
A THANK YOU LETTER FROM EMBRACE ARRIVED – saying thanks for our donation of £202.32, and assuring us of their continued support to the disadvantaged people in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza.
