CONFIRMATION: Well, we’ve done (I say “done” – when has a person ever DONE?) believing, belonging, and behaving: next week we move onto four consecutive lessons on THE MASS! It’s so good to have such an engaged and attentive class (and accompanying parents)! AND Mr MacDonald! Please, keep us all in your prayers.
FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION PRESENTS - Remember our Catholic gift shop, next to the Church! The shop also sells cards/items for all sorts of other occasions too.
ST JOSEPH’S and OUR LADY HoC LINK-UP - please pray, too, about this forthcoming development. Keep the Cheriton people, the Guildhall St people, the clergy and the bishops in your prayers.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS – Welcome to all our First Communion children today, and to their families, godparents, and friends from both near and far. Mrs Archibald and Mrs Jukes have worked heroically and with great success on our class AT Stella Maris but FOR MORE than Stella Maris, to prepare all the children. Zillions of thanks to them and to Mr Holdsworth and the school for their support! And thanks to the Young Wives, too, who have generously prepared our after-mass festivities in the Hall. A VERY SPECIAL DAY!
FR PAUL MASON is to be consecrated auxiliary Bishop for Kent at St George’s Cathedral at 12.00 noon on Tuesday, May 31st – and he wants everyone who wants to go, to go! Clergy have to be there and ready by 11.20am! No such restriction for laity, but it’ll probably be a squeeze, so DO GO, and GET THERE EARLY!
THE DEANERY PILGRIMAGE to Rome was a great success – that is, there was lots of prayer (we really DID pray for you all!), and mutual love and support, and friendship, and learning, and fun. And we saw the Pope and had lots of jolly meals and conversations and came back feeling completely exhausted! Thanks to all our pilgrims from Guildhall Street, others from the Deanery, Mrs. Nutley the main organiser, and Fr Jeff and Fr Francis from Nigeria!
THE 100 CLUB: - Congratulations to Hugh Barker who won the May draw with number 97. That was the last draw in the current year; IN ORDER TO BE INCLUDED in the June £50.00 bonus draw (on June 19th), everyone needs to renew their membership. New members are very welcome! Application/renewal forms for 2016/17 at the back of church - it costs £12.00 per number per year.
THE UCM ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE TO AYLESFORD – is on Tuesday, May 31st. There is only ONE seat available on the coach (from outside church at 9.00am. Fare is £12.50. If you want it, see Vera Pickering (quickly!).
OUR PARISH’S OWN PATRONAL FEAST, the Feast of Our Lady, Help of Christians, is on Tuesday (May 24th). This is our own special feast at which we celebrate our life as a parish under the patronage and protection of our Lady. We shall have a special Mass with music and hymns at 10.00am on Tuesday.(But no evening mass that day.)
PACT – You’re invited to a Drop-in at St George’s Cathedral, Amigo Hall on Sat., June 11th, 9.30am-1.00pm, to see the opportunities to volunteer to help those in prison, their families, and ex-offenders. The Catholic prison charity PACT (Prison Advice & Care Trust ) works in several prisons across London and relies heavily on volunteers to help those in need.
