THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE…

A treasure hidden in a field
Which someone has found. He sells everything and buys that field.

A pearl of great price
When the merchant finds one he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it.

A dragnet cast into the sea
The fishermen haul it ashore. They collect the good ones and throw away the ones of no use.

(Matthew 13:44-52)

YOUR PRAYERS
Please pray for the sick of the parish - especially Anna Painter who is now home but continues to ask for our prayers, for Maria Calnan, Mary Mahon who has returned to Ireland for a period of assessment, also for Anne King, Theresa Sharpe, daughter of Anne and Norman Sharpe, Violet Kemp and Pauline Davies who are all in hospital and are in need of our prayers. We have just heard that Gladys Kelly, a former prominent member of the Union of Catholic Mothers, has died. Her Requiem Mass is this Thursday 14 August 12noon at St Thomas’s in Canterbury. May she truly rest in peace.

THE FAITH OF THE CHURCH
“The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son’s Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all the members of his Body.
“We believe that the Holy Mother of God, the new Eve, Mother of the Church, continues in heaven to exercise her maternal role on behalf of the members of Christ”.
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 974, 975)
FAITH SUMMER BREAK
11 – 14 August for 11-15 yr olds also at Woldingham School this week. We again have a small group going from the parish. Please remember them in your prayers.
